LEADER’S FORMAT

My name is___________________, I’m an alcoholic and I am the leader for this meeting.

Leader read (or ask someone to read) THE OPENING PRAYER:

Our Father, we come to you as a friend.  You have said that wherever two or three are gathered in your name, there you will be in the midst.  We believe you are here with us now and this is something you would have us do, and that it has your blessing.  We pledge with you always to be honest and to search our hearts for weaknesses and errors that we may deserve your help.  We believe that you want us to be real partners with you in this business of living accepting our full responsibilities and certain that the rewards will be freedom, growth, and happiness.  For this we are grateful.  We ask you at all times to guide us; to help us daily to come closer to you, granting us new ways of living and of gratitude, Amen.

Leader Read PREAMBLE

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.  The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.  There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions.  AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes.  Our primary purpose is to stay sober and to help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

A reminder before we ask about birthdays, visitors and newcomers: please unmute yourself if you would like to share a birthday, identify yourself as a visitor or let us know if you are a newcomer.

  • It is also the custom of this group to ask if there are newcomers. We define newcomers as people in their first 30 days of sobriety. We would be grateful if you would introduce yourself by your first name only. This is not meant to embarrass you but rather to give us a chance to get to know you better. Are there any newcomers?
  • Are there are any visitors from outside the L.A. area?
  • Are there any alcoholics attending this meeting for the first time?
  • Are there any AA birthdays we can help celebrate?
